Prerequisites

1. sFiles version summer '24 (v.1.51) or later installed.
   1. Visit sFiles on the AppExchange and click "Get it Now" to update to the latest version.

About

Sometimes an admin needs to identify a SharePoint Folder by it's Id for troubleshooting purposes. The sFiles admin panel now includes a feature, "Search by Id" in the ID Search Utility, which allows admins to identify a SharePoint Folder by Id. See below for directions on how to search for an Id.

Steps

Navigate to the "Search by ID" utility

1. Navigate to the "Search by Id" feature in the sFiles admin panel (Salesforce Setup > Installed Packages > click 'configure' next to sFiles > Id Search Utility > Search by Id

Identify the Type of Id

1. Identify the type of Id that you are searching for (Site, Document Library, Folder).
   • If you are unsure of your Id type, see below for examples of each Id type:
     1. Site Id: companyDomain.sharepoint.com,a9b8c7d6-1234-4abc-8def-1a2b3c4d5e6f,f7e6d5c4-7890-4def-b123-9a8b7c6d5e4f
     2. Document Library Id: a!1Xx_YU3LKnj9w2UpQ5IYsJ2PKmnLBo7RlxsJtcmzDd5jFiv2zT7pU21fWXmHBzCR
     3. Folder Id: 273QYW5XPLKJVF8BUQ9XWRBS3B5HTQOKLN

Searching for a Site Id

If you are searching for a Site Id, you simply need to paste the Site Id into the search bar and click 'Find Site'

Searching for a Document Library Id

Document Libraries have two Id's associated with them, which sFiles refers to as a "Document Library Id" and a "Document Library Root Folder Id". See below for examples of each Id:

1. Document Library Id: a!1Xx_YU3LKnj9w2UpQ5IYsJ2PKmnLBo7RlxsJtcmzDd5jFiv2zT7pU21fWXmHBzCR
   • If you are searching for a "Document Library Id", you will select "Document Library Id" as the Id search type and need to specify the Site Id where you want to look for this Id.
2. Document Library Root Folder Id: 015JYT7D14X8KLMN6538NXT092UYSELRRZ
   • Notice how the Id ends in 'SELRRZ'. For this type of Id, you will need to conduct an "Advanced Search" in the "Folder Id" search type.

Searching for a Folder Id

For most folder Id's, you will simply need to paste the Id into the search bar and click 'Find Folder'. This being said, there are a few cases where an advanced search will be required:

1. Document Library Root Folders (Ex. Shared Documents)
2. Folders at the Document Library Root level (Ex. Shared Documents > Accounts)
3. Folders whose Id cannot be found with a global search

In these cases, you will need to use the "Advanced Search" option where you will need to specify the site and document library where you want to look for this Id.
