Prerequisites

1. You must have sFiles set up and running in your organization.
2. You can set either a static value or set a Salesforce field value into the SharePoint column. If you are setting a value from a Salesforce field from your record, have the technical name of the Salesforce field at hand (e.g., if you are setting a formula field value, have the tech name of the formula field ready).

Steps

Get the SharePoint Field Technical Name

In our example we will be setting the Salesforce ID into a "SalesforceId" field in SharePoint.

1. To get the technical field name of your SharePoint column you can use a tool included in the sFiles Setup app. 
2. In Salesforce's Setup, in the Quick Find box, type Installed Packages and navigate to Installed Packages.
3. Click the Configure link next to sFiles in the Installed Packages list view. 
4. Click Custom Column Utility on the left navigation panel.
5. Select the SharePoint site and Document Library that contains the column you are searching for.
6. You will see a list of all the SharePoint columns and their technical names.
7. Copy the Column Name of the column in which you would like to set data. 

Update sFiles Object Settings

Now we will need to set this column value in sFiles' metadata settings. 

1. In the left column of the Setup Wizard, click on Object Settings.
2. Click the Edit button next to the object on which you would like to set up this feature. 
3. Find the field Folder Custom Field Default Value. (If this field is not available you will need to add it to your custom metadata type page layout.)
4. Copy and paste your SharePoint column name into this field. Add a colon and add the value you would like to set. If you are setting a value from a Salesforce field please surround the Salesforce field name with square brackets. For our example we will enter "SalesforceId:[Id]".
5. In order to add additional fields you will need to separate the value pairs using a comma. Make sure there are no spaces between the field names and the comma. In our example we will enter "SalesforceId:[Id],Another_Column:[Salesforce_field]".
6. If you enter a value without square brackets the value will not query for the Salesforce value but will remain a static value (e.g., "My Column:Some Value" will result in "Some Value" being stamped into the SharePoint column).
7. Click Save. 
8. Now whenever you create folders or upload files in this sFiles object you will see this reflected in SharePoint. 

Can I have a different custom column setup for an applet instance instead of at the object level?

Great question! You absolutely can. In order to set up your sFiles applet instance to set a column field in SharePoint navigate to your App Builder in a relevant record and click the sFiles browser Lightning component. On the right hand side you will see a field called Custom SharePoint Field Defaults. Enter the information in the format described above.
